A Bit of Lace Dolly Shawl is a great way to have fun learning on a small shawl before putting the time into a larger shawl. You'll learn

• the basics of shaping a top-down Faroese-style shawl
• the attach-as-you-knit method for knitting a lace edging as a bind off

The size is suitable for 18" dolls and teddy bears, making it a delightful gift for a lucky doll or teddy bear lover!

Knit a miniature version of the red, white and blue U.S. flag. The lacy stripes and beaded stars symbolize the flag proudly waving in the breeze. Finished size approximately 3" by 5". NOTE: PATTERN NOT INCLUDED. Please purchase downloadable e-Pattern separately.

Supplies Pak includes 3 balls of size 8 DMC pearl cotton, size 11/0 Miyuki Japanese glass seed beads, and collapsing eye twisted wire needle for easy stringing of the beads. Enough materials to make several mini flags.

Note: I have run out of colors as made for the original sample. Your supplies pak will include threads in ecru, imperceptibly different shade of red, and your choice of wedgewood #311 or navy blue #823 (wedgewood is slightly lighter). Beads are pearl ceylon to coordinate with the ecru thread. You can't go wrong with either choice depending on whether you prefer an Early Americana or Country Americana look.

High quality Japanese glass seed beads (a.k.a. round rocailles) by Miyuki in size 6/0 (4 mm diameter). Use this size bead for stringing on thicker yarns than fingering weight, or for crochet hook method with fingering weight yarn.

Beads are packaged in clear zip-top bags for easy handling; no tubes to roll around or tops popping off and spilling beads. Approximately 240 per 20g bag unless otherwise noted (premium lustre beads come in smaller 10g bags; mixes come in 15g bags).

This ornate cross is knitted flat as a wide lace strip of just 4 rows, then shaped using an interesting seamless construction. Instructions are provided for making with or without beads. The Lace Cross can be used as a bookmark, communion or Easter gift, mounted and framed, or a thoughtful Christian token of friendship.

Knit a bit of fictional history with this 39-star placemat size version of a red, white and blue flag. The lacy feather and fan stripes symbolize the flag waving in the breeze. The 5-pointed stars are created with a nifty combination of knit stitch and simple embroidery.
